Yes-We-Can-Gardens!

Dear Oo-Doodle Diary: We’ve all been hit with rising food prices around the world, and with global warming putting pressure on food growth and energy consumption, we want to buy and eat locally grown produce. Well, I did some research and wanted to share an idea with everyone. There were “Victory Gardens” during the two world wars when citizens in the US, Canada, and the UK turned their yards into vegetable/ fruit gardens.
The Victory Gardens were very effective in reducing pressure on the public food supply to support the war efforts. May be it’s time to bring back “Victory Gardens.” But I suggest we call them “Yes-We-Can Gardens” (YWCG!) We can grow food in our own garden and pick them to make our meals! It’s a healthier way of living and can save a lot of money! Not to mention the saving on gasoline by skipping a trip to the supermarket! On the island, we already do this. Hana, Skye and I have our chores set out for us to help Tutu Nani with her seaside garden. I Hulala-Lava-Love arugula and tomatoes, in particular! Yummy! Do you have a veggie garden where you live? Would you like to share some garden secrets? What vegetables do you Hulala-Lava-Love?
